Ovarian tumor

Ovarian cancer is the fifth most common cancer affecting women. It accounts for approximately 6% of female malignancies. There are numerous types of tumours that can affect the ovaries.The cancer can start in the ovary’s germ cells, stromal cells or epithelial cells. Germ cells are the cells inside the ovary that develop into eggs, stromal cells make up the inner part of the ovary and the epithelial cells are the outer layer. Epithelial cell carcinoma is the most common type of ovarian cancer. It accounts for approximately 85-89% of ovarian cancers.
