Colitis

Colitis the general term used for inflammation of the large bowel. This can be from an inflammatory, viral, bacterial, fungal or parasitic infection. It could be a simple cause that will pass in a few days, or could be something that requires further treatment, and your medical history and symptoms may be helpful.Colonoscopy remains the best way to assess for inflammation of the large bowel, as the tissue layer (mucosa), will provide the best clue as to the underlying cause.
